Ongoing Team Projects

The LEAP team is actively involved in many research projects in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada, Public Health Ontario, and the Hospital for Sick Children. Laura Anderson is a site investigator for the TARGet Kids! primary care network, the Canadian Longitudinal Study for Aging, and the Colon Cancer Family Registry.

Funded Research Projects

I am currently leading several Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded research projects investigating the early life determinants of cardiometabolic risk and the broader impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on obesity and cardiometabolic risk in both children and young adults. I am also leading a study funded by CIHR and the Cancer Research Society that is investigating the change in cancer risk factors during the pandemic, and conducting a pilot randomized controlled trial, funded by the Canadian Cancer Society, to investigate the feasibility of motivational interviewing to improve health behaviors in young adults (https://motivate.healthsci.mcmaster.ca/). I contribute as a co-investigator to several projects broadly related to population and public health.
